The Academy is organising the 7th concert under the name “Khamoshiyaan Gun Gunane Lagi”. This time the academy comes up with the theme to give tribute to Yash Raj Films. Popular songs from Yash Raj movies will be presented by local singers and musicians along with few academy students.
Past Events
Aarohi Academy organised a semi classical musical narrative – popularly known as THUMRI. A genre which gain immense popularity in Lucknow and Banaras during the late 18th and early 19th century. The melodious voice of Thumri singers and the bol banav versions along with adakari of the dancers made it a must watch a listen item for the masses as well as the elite. It even graced the halls of the Kings and Nawabs! Thumri was the go to medium to express the love and longing for the missing beloved often represented by Krishna and the surreal love of Radha! A tribute to famous Thumri Singers – aptly called QUEENS of THUMRI.
The academy also organised a semi classical musical narrative – GHAZALs. A genre which found life and revival in the mid 80s due to emergence of singers like Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Jagjit Singh, Rajinder Mehta, Anup Jalota, Pankaj Udhas, Peenaz Masani to name a few. The genre was originally very popular pre independence era with singers like Noorjehan, Begum Akhtar, Farida Khanum to name a few. Lata Mangeshkars gazals from films are a treat to the avid listeners. The new generation singers like Talat Aziz, Dr Bharati have taken it to a new level.
Bollywood Events
This is the first event of the academy. This concert was organised to give tribute to India’s legendary singer Late Lata Mangeshkarji. Bollywood songs sang by Lataji were presented by local singers and musicians along with the academy students.
With the overwhelming response from the audience, second concert was organised again to give tribute to India’s legendary singer Late Lata Mangeshkarji. Bollywood songs sang by Lataji were presented by local singers and musicians along with the academy students.
On people’s demand, the academy organised third consecutive concert to give tribute to India’s legendary singer Late Lata Mangeshkarji. Bollywood songs sang by Lataji were presented by local singers and musicians along with the academy students.
This time the theme for the event was to give tribute to Mangeshkar family. Songs sang by Lataji, Ashaji, Meenaji, Ushaji and brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar. The audience applauded and enjoyed all songs from these legendary singers
In 2019, the academy organised the fifth edition of the concert which gave tribute to all female singers in the Bollywood under the title of “tribute to Queens of Melody”. Bollywood songs sang by well-known female singers from old to new ea.
The tribute was given to the Bollywood’s legendary choreographer Late Saroj Khanji. The audience really enjoyed the event as around 30 most popular songs choreographed by Saroj Khan were presented in front of the audience. Few dance groups also performed dances on few of the songs.
